The Oppo Find X10 Pro Max is the first phone with three 200-megapixel cameras. The main camera, the ultrawide and the 3x periscope telephoto all use 200MP sensors. Yet the phone almost never saves a 200MP photo: by default it shoots 26-megapixel pictures on all three lenses, and that setting matters more to anyone buying it than the number on the box.

Those sensors exist for pixel-binning, which merges groups of tiny pixels into larger ones to catch more light while keeping fine detail. Most Android phones bin all the way down to 12 or 12.5MP, whatever their sensor. Oppo stops at 26MP, close to the 24MP pictures Apple‘s top iPhones take with their 48MP sensors. In The Verge’s review, that meant photos with enough detail to crop or print, at the cost of bigger files: 8 to 12MB a shot instead of 4 to 6MB. When the light fades, the phone drops to 12.6MP on its own to gather more of it.

The ultrawide is where the phone breaks new ground. Motorola put the first 200MP sensor in a phone with the Moto X30 Pro in 2022, and Vivo’s X300 Ultra paired two of them, but no phone had used one for the ultrawide until now. Oppo’s sits behind a 13mm lens with a 1/1.56-inch sensor and focuses as close as 4cm. Because all three rear cameras share the same resolution and similar sensor sizes, a picture taken at 0.5x looks much like one at 3x. Most phones get noticeably softer as soon as they leave the main lens.

The main camera uses a larger 1/1.3-inch Samsung sensor with an f/1.5 aperture and a technology Oppo calls DeepPix, which stretches dynamic range to 17 stops. At night, street lamps and shop signs stay bright without turning into white blobs, while the shadows around them keep their detail. Hasselblad tunes the colour, and 18 built-in film simulations change the look before you press the shutter. All three rear cameras record 4K at 120 frames per second or 8K at 30, with a log profile for people who grade their footage afterwards.

Behind the cameras, the phone is a full flagship: a MediaTek Dimensity 9600 Pro chip built on a 2nm process, a 6.78-inch 144Hz OLED screen that peaks at 3,600 nits, 12GB of memory and 512GB of storage. It is 8.4mm thick and weighs 233g in Luna White or 235g in Titanium Grey, and it runs ColorOS 17 on Android 17. The Verge’s reviewer reported two days of battery life and not one stutter.

Resolution is not the whole story, and Oppo’s own lineup proves it. According to The Verge, the Find X10 Pro Max still trails the Find X9 Ultra, an earlier Oppo phone with larger main and telephoto sensors that collect more light before any binning happens. Colours also shift slightly from lens to lens. Shooting at the full 200MP produces 16,384 x 12,288-pixel files of 45 to 60MB each, which will fill a phone quickly. European buyers also get less battery: models sold there carry a 7,150mAh cell, while those for China and India get 8,000mAh. GSMArena noted that the new phone costs €100 more than the Find X9 Ultra does in France.

Oppo began selling the phone in the UK, Germany, France and other European markets on October 21, in a single 12GB and 512GB version priced at €1,799 or £1,499. The Indian launch followed on October 22 at Rs 1,99,999. Sales open on October 29 through Flipkart, Amazon and Oppo’s own store, and Oppo’s Hasselblad teleconverter kit costs Rs 24,999 on top. Oppo says wider distribution through carriers and retailers starts in late October. The phone had already gone on sale in China in September, and Oppo has announced no US release.

The 200MP figure sells the phone, but most owners will end up keeping 26MP photos.
