Yullia Prohorova and Timur Bogotov make games about the things you build with your hands. Their previous release, Clumsy Rush, showed a small studio that knew how to finish what it started. Woodo is the more considered follow-up: a game whose entire structure rests on assembling wooden dioramas, piece by piece, until empty and colorless scenes fill with detail, animation, and story. The design is almost self-evidently beautiful as a premise — and the market, at its first real look, has agreed.

Across PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch, and Nintendo Switch 2, Woodo has opened to a strong critical reception. Review scores from outlets that published at launch range from 8 to 10 out of 10, with critics drawing particular attention to the art direction, polished presentation, and what they describe as an unusually relaxing gameplay loop. On Steam, user reviews sit at close to 100 percent positive — a response that reflects something more specific than enthusiasm: players finding a game that knows exactly what it wants to be.

“Woodo is a small, personal game with an exceptionally clear creative vision,” said Carsten Fichtelmann, Founder and CEO of Daedalic Entertainment. “Seeing it connect with players across PC and all major consoles is enormously rewarding. It shows that original ideas, outstanding craftsmanship and the right publishing partnership can find an international audience.” For Daedalic Entertainment — celebrating its 20th year as a publisher — Woodo sits at the heart of one of the company’s four portfolio pillars: wholesome games, alongside storytelling, strategy, and co-op.

The performance on Nintendo hardware has been particularly notable. Strong pre-order numbers and first-day sales made Woodo one of Daedalic’s strongest Nintendo Switch launches to date, following a successful Nintendo Switch 2 debut for Star Trek: Voyager — Across the Unknown earlier this year. Two games that could hardly be more different. COO Jonas Hüsges framed the contrast plainly: “Woodo now reinforces that result with a completely different genre and audience. At the same time, its strong reception across every platform shows that this is not simply a platform story, but a success built on the quality of the game and the talent of Tiny Monks Tales.” Daedalic is evaluating a physical retail edition for a later date.

Woodo arrived September 17, 2026 on PC via Steam, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch, and Nintendo Switch 2. The game follows Foxy and her friend Ben the frog through a story revealed scene by scene as players place each piece, with full voice acting in multiple languages. Tiny Monks Tales is a two-person studio based in Ukraine; Nintendo featured the game in its Indie World Showcase ahead of launch.
