Tokino Sora turns to jin for a denpa single where the fan’s love becomes the lyric

ときのそら (Tokino Sora) has spent her career building something that most pop acts treat as accidental: a genuine relationship between a performer and an audience that exists entirely in sound. Her new single, スキ⇄スキ☆うろぼろす (Suki⇄Suki☆Ouroboros), written and composed by じん (jin) of Kagerou Project fame, funnels that relationship into a denpa song — a genre built on hypnotic repetition, psychedelic energy, and a refusal to separate affection from absurdity.

Denpa (電波ソング) is one of J-pop’s most misunderstood genres outside Japan: high-BPM, hyper-voiced, cartoonishly earnest, and structurally designed to lodge in the brain without asking permission. In the hands of jin — whose Kagerou Project cycle produced some of the most obsessively consumed music on NicoNico Douga — the genre becomes something more specific. The ouroboros of the title is not decoration. The song’s stated theme is Tokino Sora shouting love toward herself, a loop designed to capture the feeling of talking about an idol you adore: the love goes out, the love comes back, and nobody is entirely sure who is singing to whom.

That conceptual move has a very specific resonance for a VTuber audience. VTubers work by making the parasocial relationship both legible and earnest — the viewer knows they are watching a produced persona, and both parties pretend the knowing does not exist. スキ⇄スキ☆うろぼろす names that contract without apologizing for it. The single includes rap passages and dialogue drops between stretches of high-tension pop, and the arrangement from すくろーす (Sukurose) and jin uses texture rather than restraint as its main structural tool.

The crossover ceiling is real. Denpa songs have enthusiastic followings in Japan and among the Korean VTuber fanbase, but the genre rarely translates across language boundaries, and the specific self-referential humor of the ouroboros concept requires context that new listeners will not have. Victor Entertainment releasing this as a digital single ahead of a November EP suggests it is calibrated at the existing fanbase rather than any expansion play.

Tokino Sora is Hololive Production’s founding VTuber, the first talent to represent a company now among the largest virtual talent agencies globally, with more than 1.3 million subscribers on her YouTube channel. Her Victor Entertainment deal, formalized years into her career, gives her access to composers at a professional level that distinguishes her musical output from most of the streaming-based VTuber market. Previous originals have spanned idol pop, ballads, and rock arrangements; denpa here suggests a desire to be deliberately unguarded.

CHECK!, a five-track EP releasing November 4, 2026, is the project this single opens. The tracklist includes 決意のソラへ (Ketsui no Sora e) and a collaborative track キラメキMODE! featuring 響咲リオナ (Hibiki Sakura Riona) — a milestone the denpa loop was perhaps designed to celebrate in the most non-linear way possible.
