YouTube is the online video platform founded on 14 February 2005 by Chad Hurley, Steve Chen and Jawed Karim, three former PayPal employees, and bought by Google the following year. Headquartered in San Bruno, California, it is the second most visited website in the world, behind only Google itself.

Its scale has made it the place where television, music and film now meet their audience directly: more than two and a half billion people use it every month, and the same counter that measures a bedroom vlogger measures a studio. Neal Mohan has led the company as chief executive since 2023.
