Few actors owe a second act to a hashtag as openly as Charlie Cox. When Netflix dropped Daredevil, the fan-driven “Save Daredevil” campaign kept Matt Murdock in the conversation until Marvel Studios brought him back on Disney+, and Cox has never hidden what he thinks he owes it. Now that the revival, Daredevil: Born Again, is heading toward its own ending, the actor is pointing fans back to the same weapon.

As Deadline’s Glenn Garner reported from New York Comic Con, Cox was on stage with his co-stars teasing the third and final season of the Disney+ series when the panel’s moderator brought up the show’s pending conclusion. “Wait, what?” Cox asked, playing dumb, and the room answered with boos. He then shouted out the fans behind the campaign, saying he thinks the Save Daredevil movement will be gearing up for “round two” once the final season is out.

The campaign began in 2018, after Netflix cancelled Daredevil following three seasons. Cox has credited it directly for his return. “Whatever happens to my career going forward from this point on, I owe most of it to the ‘Save Daredevil’ campaign,” he told Marvel.com in 2022. “Even when I had lost hope years ago, they did not.”

The numbers behind the second goodbye are less romantic. Deadline confirmed last month that Born Again will end with its third season; cast members were told by phone that morning. The revival opened strong, with the best series premiere on Disney+ in 2025 and 7.5 million viewers worldwide in its first five days, but U.S. viewership fell by about 50% in season two, according to Luminate data. The Hollywood Reporter added that showrunner Dario Scardapane, who led the second season, is no longer working on the show.

The cut also fits a wider contraction. THR notes that Marvel Television has been steadily shrinking its Disney+ output: Wonder Man was unrenewed after initially getting a second season, Paul Bettany’s VisionQuest arrives as the final installment of the WandaVision trilogy, and nothing appears to be on the books after Daredevil signs off.

The final season has wrapped and is set to premiere on Disney+ in 2027. Season two left Matt Murdock in prison, and the closing run brings back Vincent D’Onofrio as Wilson Fisk, Deborah Ann Woll as Karen Page, Elden Henson as Foggy Nelson and Wilson Bethel as Bullseye, plus a Defenders reunion with Krysten Ritter’s Jessica Jones, Mike Colter’s Luke Cage and Finn Jones’ Iron Fist.

Last time, fans organized after the lights went out. This time Cox has handed them their cue before the last episode even airs.
