ATMOSFAR hits Steam Early Access as the Airport CEO studio builds an airbase that flies

For years Apog Labs, a small studio in Malmö, asked players to think about flight from the ground: runways, gates, baggage belts, the patient logistics of an airport that never moves. With ATMOSFAR, the Swedish team behind Airport CEO turns that obsession inside out. The airport now travels with you, a colossal airship drifting between floating islands, and the ground is the place you visit.

Published by Shueisha Games, the games arm of the Tokyo house behind Weekly Shōnen Jump, ATMOSFAR is a cooperative survival adventure for one to four players set among the clouds of an alien planet called Tycos. Its premise is a mystery with a long shadow: humanity’s furthest outpost has collapsed, and the abandoned facilities scattered across the sky hold the answer to what happened.

The design idea that holds it together is the vehicle as a tool. Instead of one all-purpose ship, players command a fleet of small craft called Wasps, each built for a job. The Utility Wasp sets down a portable camp, the Hauler Wasp airlifts heavy scrap, and a faster combat model covers distance at speed. A physics-based flight model ties it together, so piloting is meant to be a skill you grow rather than a menu you open. The Wasps also need tending, from fuel to repairs to upgraded engines and hulls, which makes the fleet feel closer to a stable than a garage.

Above them sits the Cloud Cruiser, a buildable, customisable mobile airbase that players expand section by section, adding Wasp pads, fuel tanks and a lounge as expeditions push further out. It is the most telling choice in the package. Survival games usually anchor you to a fixed base and send you outward; ATMOSFAR moves the base itself, so progress literally means lifting your home to a new altitude. On foot, the loop is familiar territory, scavenging scrap, processing minerals, cooking, crafting and researching artifacts, while extreme weather, alien creatures and distinct biomes push back.

The road here ran longer than planned. In March, when the game passed 150,000 Steam wishlists and revealed its storyline at the Future Games Show Spring Showcase, Shueisha Games set Early Access for the second quarter of 2026. It arrives instead at the end of October.

ATMOSFAR launched in Steam Early Access for Windows PC on October 29, 2026, priced at $24.99 or €25.49, with a 10% discount during its first two weeks. Up to four players can share a Cloud Cruiser in online co-op, or a solo pilot can fly alone.

Early Access is a promise as much as a product. What Apog Labs is promising is a game in which the logistics of flight, the thing it already knew how to simulate, finally gets a sky of its own.
