KATSEYE WILD EP: Ed Sheeran Co-Wrote the Lead Single, Demi Moore Stars in It

KATSEYE’s third EP WILD arrives with two names that give the project a different kind of weight: Ed Sheeran, who co-wrote the lead single ‘Animal,’ and Demi Moore, who stars in its music video. The EP runs five tracks, with a retailer-exclusive sixth. Whatever has been said about whether a multinational group assembled through HYBE and Geffen Records can develop something with genuine pull, WILD makes that argument with collaborators who had options.

‘Animal,’ directed by Cody Critcheloe, places Moore in the kind of music video role that reads as a deliberate choice rather than a promotional stunt. The remaining tracks — ‘Pinky Up,’ ‘Hootie Frutti,’ ‘Bel Air,’ and ‘That Way’ — complete an EP that runs under twenty minutes and does not try to cover more ground than it has mapped. The bonus track ‘Unloveu’ extends the listen for those who seek it out.

The WILD HEARTS official trailer, with more than four million views before the EP’s wider rollout, established the project’s visual and sonic register before the tracks themselves were heard. On KATSEYE’s official channel, it reads as a statement about direction rather than a sales pitch — group-focused in structure, individually focused in its close shots.

The Last.fm listener data shows more than nine thousand regular listeners and nearly sixty-eight thousand plays — retention numbers built across multiple releases, not a viral spike. That audience meets WILD already committed to the direction. Ed Sheeran’s co-write on ‘Animal’ adds commercial reach to a fanbase that had already stayed without needing it as a reason.

KATSEYE was introduced through a Netflix documentary and has been the subject of persistent debate about whether a group built through a televised audition process can build an identity that outlasts its production context. WILD does not argue this directly. It hires collaborators who have nothing to gain from a bad project and lets the work make the case.

WILD was released on August 14. It is KATSEYE’s third EP, and the first where the names attached to the project belong as much to the music as to its origin story.
