With Carlinhos Brown, Jota Quest turns ‘Que Beleza’ into a bet on optimism

Alice Lange

Gravity is not a requirement for rock. It is a choice. Jota Quest, which has always understood this, decided to choose otherwise on “Imunização Racional (Que Beleza)”, a new single released with Os Garotin and Carlinhos Brown. The double name announces the argument: the song proposes optimism not as naivety, but as a strategy.

The official video crossed 200,000 views on YouTube without a single stream on Spotify, a number that tells the story of a release that reached its audience directly. Carlinhos Brown brings the percussion and energy that define his work; Os Garotin close the trio with the electricity of a generation that is not afraid of joy.

The single arrives as a two-track release, a decision that makes it more than a format placeholder. Jota Quest has a history of releasing material that asks for attention. “Que Beleza” keeps the band’s arena-rock texture but opens space for Carlinhos Brown’s percussion in a way that does not try to merge two worlds — it simply places them in conversation.

The collaboration between Jota Quest and Carlinhos Brown is not a commercial accident. One group built its foundation in Belo Horizonte; the other turned Salvador into raw musical material. Together, they produce something that has no genre name, but has texture.

The result is a track that works better heard than described. The optimism the title promises is not only in the lyrics: it is in what happens when Carlinhos Brown and Os Garotin enter the space Jota Quest built and expand it without distorting it.

“Que Beleza” does not answer whether Minas Gerais rock needs Bahia to be complete. It leaves the question open — and sounds like it does not mind not having the answer.
