HOYO-MiX has released “A Letter from the Wind”, the theme song for Genshin Impact’s sixth anniversary, as an EP that carries the same melody in Chinese, English, Japanese and Korean, plus an instrumental. The unusual part is the condition attached to it: HoYoverse has promised every player an in-game reward if the song’s combined plays reach one million before the campaign closes. That turns a celebratory single into a small test of how far a game’s audience will follow its music outside the game.

The song was composed by Xin Zhao of HOYO-MiX, the HoYoverse studio behind the game’s score, and each language has its own singer. The casting leans on the game itself. Griffin Burns, the English voice of the Fatui Harbinger Childe, sings the English version, while Takanori Nishikawa, the J-pop veteran known as T.M.Revolution who voices Arataki Itto in Japanese, takes the Japanese one. Sun Ye sings in Chinese and Nam Do-hyeong in Korean.

The animated video treats the anniversary as a look back rather than a launch. Paimon invites Venti, Furina, Kamisato Ayaka, Barbara and Nilou to the Zubayr Theater, the Sumeru stage where Nilou dances, and the six put on their own show while the video returns to places the Traveler has crossed in Teyvat. The official tagline, “You’re what makes this journey so meaningful”, is aimed at players who have stayed since the first region. The timing gives it weight: the main story, which began in Mondstadt, has now reached Snezhnaya, the last of the continent’s seven nations, and the anniversary artwork gathers the game’s gods in a single circle.

Even the title shifts by market. The Korean and Chinese releases keep the image of a letter (바람의 편지, 风的来信), while the Japanese edition is called 風の思い出, “Memories of the Wind”. The Korean EP bundles all four vocal versions with the instrumental, each running just over three minutes, so one record hands the same chorus between four singers. The EP is on Spotify and Apple Music, and HoYoverse is also offering the track as a free download, a format built for a player base spread across East Asia, the Americas and Europe at once.

The streaming target deserves a raised eyebrow. One million plays is a modest bar for a franchise of this size, and tying a free in-game item to the count makes the figure a measure of coordinated fan effort, not of whether the song reaches anyone outside the game. A reward goal invites players to leave the track looping in a background tab, so the number this campaign produces will say little about the song’s staying power. There is also a fatigue risk: HOYO-MiX put out a 92-track soundtrack volume in the summer, and an anniversary theme that arrives on a fixed calendar slot can sound like an obligation rather than an event.

Genshin Impact launched on September 28, 2020, and the anniversary material arrived on its sixth birthday, September 28, 2026, with version 7.1 live and Vesna and Vodyanitsa added to the roster. The streaming campaign runs until October 3, 2026. If cumulative plays of the song reach one million by then, HoYoverse says every player will receive the Radiant Spincrystal “A Letter from the Wind”, the collectible that plays the track inside the game. The anniversary web event, which hands out 180 Primogems, stays open until October 18.
