Meta Platforms is an American technology company headquartered in Menlo Park, California. Founded in 2004 as Facebook, it owns Facebook, Instagram, WhatsApp and Threads, and develops the Quest line of VR/AR headsets and the Llama family of AI models.

Led by co-founder and chief executive Mark Zuckerberg, it is one of the world’s largest companies and is investing heavily in artificial intelligence and the so-called metaverse.
