Go Eun-sae, an elite prosecutor, wakes in a rural hospital with no memory of who she is. The first person she sees leans over the bed to say he is the man she loves. He is Jang Tae-ha — a former boxer who drifted into a gang’s orbit — and he has reasons to keep her hidden from the city. With nothing to contradict him and nowhere else to go, she moves into his life and lets the claim stand.

The fake-relationship trope is among the most traveled in K-drama, but Our Sticky Love removes the piece that usually makes it function: mutual consent. In the familiar version, both partners share the fiction and the comedy comes from sustaining the role in front of everyone else. Here the deception runs in one direction only. Eun-sae is not performing — she trusts completely. The shared kitchen, the borrowed clothes, the sleeping arrangements negotiated between two strangers read as warm comedy on the surface and as a slow moral problem underneath, because the person being deceived is behaving with total sincerity.

That asymmetry is the engine of the series. The viewer is placed exactly where Tae-ha stands — holding something the heroine does not have — and every tender scene arrives shadowed by it. Written by Mo Ji-hye and directed by Kim Jang-han, whose earlier series My Demon and Do You Like Brahms? showed he can hold menace and tenderness in the same frame, the show treats its crime plot and its romance as a single mechanism. Heo Sung-tae plays the syndicate boss Baek Sang-gil, and his presence is the reason a prosecutor does not lose her memory in a story like this by accident. The comedy plays warmer because someone in the shadows wants her found; the danger reads as danger because we have watched her laugh.

Jung Hae-in built his name on the wounded, easily trusted leads of Something in the Rain and One Spring Night — the boyfriend a certain strand of Korean drama trains its audience to believe on sight. Casting him as someone who lies to a woman with no defences against the lie turns that accumulated goodwill into working material. Ha Young has the harder assignment: building a self on screen in real time, without the shorthand of settled habits or remembered relationships, while staying sharp enough to be credible as a former prosecutor and open enough to have fallen for a man whose motives she cannot read.

Beneath the courtship runs a quieter question about how much of a person is memory and how much is the role a community assigns her. Stripped of her credentials, her case files and her rank, Go Eun-sae is, briefly, someone whose worth was never entered into a record. The rural village isolates them long enough for the invented relationship to start becoming real before the truth can catch up — and that is where the series leaves its actual question open. The genre guarantees the couple will end up together in some form; it makes no promise about which version of her will be standing there when they do.

Our Sticky Love premiered on Netflix on 7 August 2026, running twelve episodes of roughly an hour each, all available at once. Alongside Jung Hae-in and Ha Young, the cast includes Jeon Bae-soo and Seo Jeong-yeon in support.
