This is a girl who fears risk, yet the fate of the world rests on her ability to overcome it. Created by Devin Bunje and Nick Stanton, this animated series blends science fiction, action, and comedy into a whirlwind of adolescent angst and global stakes.

At its core, Hailey’s On It! follows 14-year-old Hailey Banks, a Hawaiian-American teen who must complete a series of impossible tasks to save the planet from irreversible climate change. The premise is ambitious, merging personal growth with world-saving aspirations. The show’s strength lies in its ability to balance humor and heart, particularly through Cravalho’s performance as Hailey. Her delivery captures the protagonist’s anxiety and determination, making her relatable despite the absurdity of her mission.

Manny Jacinto, known for his role in The Good Place, brings warmth and comedy to Scott Denoga, Hailey’s best friend and unwitting love interest. Their dynamic is a highlight, filled with playful banter and genuine friendship. Gary Anthony Williams’ Beta, an AI operating system from the future, adds a layer of dry wit that contrasts well with the show’s more frantic moments.

The animation style is vibrant and expressive, perfectly suited to the show’s tone. The action sequences are lively, and the character designs are distinctive, ensuring each personality shines through visually. The series also tackles themes of fear, self-doubt, and friendship in a way that feels authentic to its young audience without resorting to heavy-handed moralizing.

However, Hailey’s On It! stumbles in its pacing and structural choices. Episodes often feel disjointed, jumping from one task to another without allowing sufficient time for emotional or narrative development. The Chaos Bots, while visually entertaining, sometimes serve as little more than a repetitive obstacle rather than a genuine threat. Additionally, the show’s cancellation after one season leaves several plot threads unresolved, which is disappointing given its potential.

The theme song, performed by Cravalho, is catchy and energetic, encapsulating the show’s spirit. However, the recurring “Theme Song Takeover” segments, where supporting characters sing their versions of the theme, feel gimmicky and disrupt the flow of the narrative.
