The opening shot of Curon lingers on the murky waters of the town’s lake, a silent witness to secrets buried deep. This Italian Netflix series, created by Ezio Abbate and Ivano Fachin, dives into the eerie atmosphere of a small Alpine village hiding dark truths beneath its picturesque surface.

Curon follows Anna Raina (Valeria Bilello) as she returns to her hometown with her teenage twins, Daria (Margherita Morchio) and Mauro (Federico Russo), after 17 years. The series weaves together elements of drama, mystery, and supernatural horror, creating a tangled web of family secrets, forbidden love, and small-town paranoia.

The strongest aspect of Curon is its atmosphere. The production design and cinematography capture the isolation and claustrophobia of the Alpine setting, with the looming mountains and frozen lake serving as a constant reminder of the town’s oppressive secrets. The series also benefits from strong performances, particularly from Bilello as Anna, who conveys a mix of fear, determination, and vulnerability that anchors the story.

However, Curon stumbles in its pacing and narrative focus.
