The science-fiction survival game ICARUS is being adapted for console platforms. The project, titled ICARUS: Console Edition, has been announced for Xbox Series consoles and PlayStation 5. This player-versus-environment (PvE) survival experience supports up to four players.

The game is set on the hostile planet Icarus, the location of a spectacularly failed human terraforming attempt. Players must contend with environments that are both Earth-like and extraterrestrial. The world is defined by unrelenting storms, deadly indigenous fauna, toxic air, and severe, sky-shattering lightning. Participants must explore, craft, hunt, and prospect for invaluable exotic matter while attempting to endure this formidable final frontier.

The console release will launch as a comprehensive package, featuring the original base game alongside the New Frontiers Expansion. This expansion introduces Prometheus, a non-terraformed, alien region that adds an additional 64km² of terrain to explore. Prometheus incorporates three additional deadly biomes, a roster of mutated, indigenous apex predators, over 30 new workshop items, and the ability to craft more than 100 new items essential for survival. Furthermore, the New Frontiers content includes six narrative-driven missions structured across a single story arc, unveiling secrets lurking on the planet.

ICARUS: Console Edition will include both maps from the start, offering a combined 128km² of terrain. The experience can be undertaken solo or in a co-operative party of up to four players. The core gameplay loop is built on a compelling progression system where players advance from basic gear to sophisticated technology. They can forge permanent upgrades using exotic matter and must master the arts of hunting, building, fishing, and survival. The planet itself is a primary antagonist; every element, including its flora, fauna, and atmosphere, actively resists humanity’s presence. The included expansion further introduces new mutated creatures, ridable mounts, and untapped resources.

ICARUS: Console Edition is now available to wishlist on Xbox Series X/S and PlayStation 5. The title is targeting a Q1 2026 launch window.
