PSG’s NFL Jersey for Paris Found Its Face in Saints Star Alvin Kamara

Fanatics designed it, the fleur-de-lis ties it to New Orleans, and the player who revealed it plays for the Saints

The soccer-NFL crossover jerseys people remember were sold on a name. Hazard across the back of a Chelsea shirt, Neymar on a Paris Saint-Germain one, Coutinho on Barcelona’s. PSG’s new NFL jersey for the Steelers vs. Saints game in Paris carries no player’s name at all, and the man who brought it out into the light does not play for PSG.

He plays running back for the New Orleans Saints. Alvin Kamara revealed the burgundy-and-gold Monogramme version after his team’s game against the New York Giants, then took a seat at Parc des Princes, on PSG’s invitation and alongside teammate Cam Jordan, to watch the club beat Barcelona. The jersey was built for the NFL’s first regular-season game in France. Its face, so far, is a Saint.

Kamara knew the way to Parc des Princes before the NFL came to France

This was not a cold introduction. The Saints’ own photo archive shows Kamara touring Parc des Princes on January 20, 2024, more than two years before the team’s delegation landed at Charles de Gaulle this week. The NFL player PSG put in front of its shirt had already toured its stadium.

That is the turn the obvious coverage skips. In 2018 PSG lent Neymar’s name to an NFL-style shirt and let a soccer star sell American football’s silhouette. Now the club that ESPN calls the two-time reigning Champions League holders hands the reveal to a back from the other code, and sells the result in its New York store as well as its Paris ones. The borrowing runs the other way.

The Tuesday night Kamara watched was no exhibition, either. PSG, chasing a third straight Champions League title, beat Barcelona 4-2 with two late goals, according to the Associated Press. A running back lives on the last cut. He got a good night to watch one from the stands.

What PSG’s NFL jerseys actually are

No PSG player designed them. Both models were designed by Fanatics, with Nike and the NFL, according to PSG, ESPN and beIN Sports. They follow the NFL game-jersey cut: loose fit, deep V-neck, drop shoulders, mesh panels and a metallic NFL shield at the base of the collar.

Paris Red & Blue wears the club’s traditional colors, with the crest on the sleeves. The Monogramme is the one with a past. Footy Headlines and House of Heat both trace it to PSG’s 2006-07 away kit, the shirt Pauleta wore, whose monogram pattern earned it a “Vuitton” nickname for its likeness to the luxury house. On the new version, the numbers are filled with miniature Eiffel Towers and fleurs-de-lis in metallic gold.

Both carry the number 75, the administrative department code for Paris. Both carry the fleur-de-lis, the emblem on PSG’s crest and on the Saints’.

Why the Saints, and not the Steelers, got PSG’s partnership

That shared fleur-de-lis is the hinge of the whole week. The Saints and PSG announced a formal partnership around the game, with a merchandise collection developed with Fanatics, a PSG x New Orleans Saints capsule, and a handcrafted collector jersey made with the French upcycling workshop LeLabPlus and artist Ed Broner, sold with a tote bag and a vinyl. MYD and Antoine Bouchot recorded an EP of five reorchestrated tracks with The Soul Rebels, a musical collective from New Orleans.

The Pittsburgh Steelers, the other half of Sunday’s game, do not appear in either club’s announcement. The jerseys exist because of a Steelers vs. Saints game, but the story PSG chose to tell is a Paris-New Orleans one.

The best soccer/NFL crossover jerseys before this one

ESPN’s rundown of the crossovers starts in 2018, when Chelsea released a plain blue-and-white NFL-style shirt with Eden Hazard’s name for the NFL’s London games, and Tottenham went simple white, a nod that suited Harry Kane, a huge NFL fan who hopes to kick in the league one day. The same year brought a PSG and Barcelona pair in simplified club colors, stamped with Neymar and Philippe Coutinho. Inter Milan followed in 2025 around the Club World Cup in the United States, black and blue with bright yellow. Nike’s 2026 World Cup range then turned national teams into NFL hybrids, with Australia in gold and green, England in rose red and France, which ESPN rated the best of the set, in deep blue with tricolore trim.

Price, release and the Paris game

The PSG x Nike x NFL jerseys went on sale on October 19 at $225 in the United States, or €210, through PSG’s online store, its stores in Paris and New York, the NFL store in Paris and Fanatics.com. The PSG x New Orleans Saints capsule follows on October 22, with a Saints House pop-up at Pavillon Vendôme on October 24.

The game itself is Sunday, October 25, at the Stade de France in Saint-Denis, the first NFL regular-season game played in France. The NFL has said it goes ahead as scheduled after a weekend of unrest in the country. Before kickoff, PSG Handball and American football will stage a Hail Mary pass over the Seine at the Petit Pont on October 23, and girls from PSG’s Allez les Filles program will be in the stands on Sunday.

PSG has spent years selling shirts on the names across their backs. This week the name doing the selling belongs to a man in a different crest, and the only thing the two crests share is the fleur-de-lis.
