LE SSERAFIM and Guru Randhawa bring K-pop and Punjabi pop into BOOMPALA

Alice Lange

LE SSERAFIM and Guru Randhawa have released “BOOMPALA (feat. GURU RANDHAWA),” placing Punjabi verses over a Macarena-sampling K-pop single. Korean, English, Spanish, and Punjabi now share the same track, marking the first musical bridge between K-pop and South Asian pop at this scale. The result raises real questions about what connects these two worlds.

Guru Randhawa built his career on Punjabi and Hindi pop, scoring international hits including “High Rated Gabru,” “Lahore,” and “Patola.” He has collaborated with Pitbull, French Montana, and The Chainsmokers, drawing listeners across the UK, Canada, and the Gulf alongside his South Asian fanbase. Pairing with LE SSERAFIM, one of K-pop’s highest-profile acts under HYBE’s Source Music, gives this collaboration a reach that sets it apart from previous India-K-pop crossovers.

Context shapes this release. HYBE established HYBE India Entertainment in Mumbai as its first India-based subsidiary, committing structurally to that market. Around the same time, Jackson Wang and Diljit Dosanjh released “BUCK,” blending K-pop and Punjabi music. “BOOMPALA feat. GURU RANDHAWA” arrives as the most prominent release in this accelerating crossover trend.

The single is available on Spotify and YouTube under Source Music. MusicBrainz registers two tracks: the original and the featuring version. The official visualizer incorporates yoga-inspired choreography and the Sanskrit greeting “namaste,” extending the cultural exchange into visuals.

Cross-cultural collaborations don’t always land. Whether the two artists’ distinct musical sensibilities work organically on a single track, or whether the collaboration reads as marketing rather than music, is a question listeners will answer through their repeat plays. A Macarena sample, Punjabi rap, and K-pop production coexist here, and each fanbase will decide whether it feels addressed rather than borrowed from.

“BOOMPALA feat. GURU RANDHAWA” was released on June 6, 2026, and is available on Spotify and YouTube. Whether this collaboration leads to live performances or further joint work remains the next open question for both acts.
