Producer-led bands built on a revolving cast of guest singers eventually face the same question: whose voice is this? Copenhagen’s 100%WET have answered it. Their new single, “Indigo”, makes singer Sanna Heinstedt a full, permanent member alongside guitarist Casper Munns and Jakob Birch, who share guitar and production, turning a duo into a trio. It also lands as the band step out of the hardest stretch of their short career.

Heinstedt, who also records as Eir, is hardly a new face in their world. She first appeared as the featured vocalist on the early single “Ether” and has been part of the band’s live shows and studio work ever since. “She’s been a part of the band officially for quite a while – we’ve hardly played a show without her for over a year now, so it’s almost old news for us,” Munns says in the announcement. “We started out collaborating with different singers, but organically her voice just started to fit – her tone and the guitars found each other naturally.”

Birch goes further, calling her “our primary partner-in-crime in the studio and live over the last few years” and a huge creative force behind the band’s upcoming sound. Remaining a duo, he adds, would no longer be true to how they work.

“Indigo” puts that partnership front and centre. The release describes lush, layered guitars soaked in reverb, a thread of subtle eastern influence, and plenty of room for Munns and Heinstedt to trade and blend vocals. It sits squarely inside hypergaze, the term the band coined for their own mix of alt-rock atmosphere and hyperreal production: trip-hop-leaning beats, stacked guitars, Auto-Tuned choruses and sound design drawn from the Copenhagen and Swedish underground.

Munns says the song began somewhere dark. “When I wrote it, the song came from a dark place – a needy, desperate longing that needed to be forced out,” he explains. “As time has passed, I’ve started to see it more as a love song, a celebration of life.” He would rather leave its meaning to the listener.

That shift lands differently given what the band have just been through. Last year, Munns was hospitalised with a rare and life-threatening illness that put him in an induced coma and forced 100%WET to cancel shows, writing sessions and a long-awaited UK live debut. The band are only now sharing the full story publicly, and they come back from it with a bigger line-up rather than a smaller one.

The group took shape at Copenhagen’s Rhythmic Music Conservatory, the school behind alt-pop names such as Clarissa Connelly, ML Buch, Smerz and Astrid Sonne, with the idea of fusing shoegaze textures with the rhythmic drive of drum and bass. Their self-titled debut album, released on Crunchy Frog Recordings in May 2025, drew praise from outlets including The Line of Best Fit, KEXP and Louder Than War, and they have since played SPOT Festival and Roskilde and supported Primal Scream in Copenhagen. Earlier in 2026 they put out a cover of Grimes’ “Delete Forever” and the original “Eleanor’s Escape”.

“Indigo” is out now via Crunchy Frog Recordings.

The UK debut that illness took from them is still waiting. When it comes, 100%WET will walk on stage as the three-piece they have, in practice, been for a while.
