With more than 15,000 submissions from 160 countries and a growing roster of Oscar-nominated alumni, the Cannes Film Awards has established itself as one of the prominent film events held each year. Los Angeles-based filmmaker James Pratt (Eyes of Salt), will continue his role on the festival’s head jury panel, helping guide the selection of emerging talent from across the globe.

The festival has become a notable platform for early-career directors. Ranked by FilmFreeway as the #1 most popular festival in Western Europe and #2 in the European Union.

Over the years, the festival has spotlighted filmmakers who have gone on to broader international recognition, including Antony Nti (Oscar shortlist), Elvira Lind (Academy Award nominee), Georgi M. Unkovski (Sundance nominee), Morad Mostafa (Cairo International Film Festival nominee), and Marie Bunel (Raindance nominee). A number of selected projects have also secured distribution on major platforms such as Netflix, HBO, and Amazon Prime, extending the reach of emerging voices in cinema.
