Lean Solutions Group buys SupportZebra, extends AI platform to 1,300 workers

Victor Maslow

When Lean Solutions Group completed its acquisition of SupportZebra, the Miami-based outsourcing firm brought its proprietary AI platform, LeanTek, to 1,300 new specialists in customer support, technical assistance, and back-office services — and into 40 new client relationships in fintech, healthcare, e-commerce, and insurance. The combined entity now employs more than 2,000 people in the Philippines alone, a 12-fold increase from two years prior, spread across three markets: Manila, Cagayan de Oro, and Cebu.

That scale matters because outsourcing remains a primary employer across the Philippines, where call-center and BPO work has sustained millions of households for two decades. The industry faces visible pressure from AI automation tools, and the LSG acquisition illustrates the dominant corporate response: integrate AI into existing human operations rather than replace the workforce outright. Whether that model delivers on its promise — or simply defers the disruption — is the open question this deal does not answer.

SupportZebra clients gain access to LeanTek’s two core products: AgentEdge, which layers AI-driven automation over human support teams, and Connect, a workforce management and performance visibility tool. LSG describes the integration as giving SupportZebra clients faster routing, improved resolution paths, and consolidated performance data — tools the company says the firm’s 40 clients could not access at this scale independently.

CEO Jack Freker described the deal as extending an “expert-in-the-loop model into new markets and verticals that few companies in the world can serve at this scale.” That framing deserves scrutiny. LSG is privately held and publishes no operating figures, making it difficult to verify whether the LeanTek platform delivers the efficiency gains the company claims — or whether the 12-fold Philippine expansion reflects genuine platform performance or simply acquisitive growth.

The acquisition positions LSG in a crowded field of mid-market BPO firms racing to integrate AI platforms into human-staffed operations — a dynamic that raises the same question MCM examined when looking at what happens when a business runs entirely on AI agents rather than people. For SupportZebra’s workforce, the answer will be empirical, not theoretical.

The acquisition was announced August 24, 2026. An earlier Carparts.com Philippines integration — completed within six months of a prior LSG partnership and extended to a multiyear agreement — gives the combined entity a benchmark for how fast it expects to onboard SupportZebra’s 40 client accounts into the LeanTek stack.
