A series that combines a thriller with an intricate plot in its storyline, but maintains a TV series quality to it, without standing out too much in terms of cinematography, yet it achieves to entertain and engage.

Synopsis

Erin and her young daughter live in Barcelona when she accidentally gets caught up in a robbery. One of the robbers recognizes her and, after appearing in the newspaper, her life takes an unexpected turn and Erin (or Kate in her past life) gets involved in shady affairs.

About “Who Is Erin Carter?”

An entertaining thriller that takes us on the journey of a mother caught up in an quasi-action movie, very much in the style of Jennifer Lopez’s latest film (The Mother), following a fairly similar pattern, although this time with a more “made-for-TV” feel in its cinematography and script treatment.

“Who Is Erin Carter?” is a series that tends at times to emphasize the sentimental side of its lead characters, their motivations, the aspect of “being a mother” rather than Kate’s action hero role (we don’t want to reveal too much of her character). It seeks to maintain a delicate balance between a classic thriller and a family drama, and in that sense, for the purists who want more thriller and fewer dramatic gestures, it may fall short.

There are good performances in a series, with Evin Ahmad standing out, offering a well defined portrayal for the role and skillfully showing her character’s different sides. We also liked Douglas Henshall, the “villain” of the series, who brings a lot of tension and intrigue to the story. The young Indica Watson, who has a leading role in this series, has proven to be a talented actress.

The action sequences are choreographed, and well executed, and the moments when the series takes on a more like the suspenseful tone it manages to grab pique our interest.

Our Opinion

“Who Is Erin Carter?” is a mix of an action series and a made-for-TV series about a mother fighting for her daughter in a hostile world. While it’s not bad and achieves its goals, it fails to stand out in terms of tone and script.

It doesn’t aim to, nor does it try or seek to do so at any point, managing to stay in the realm of being entertaining yet forgettable.

As always, it’s a matter of personal preference.

Un thriller entretenido que nos lleva en el viaje de una madre atrapada en una película de acción casi, muy al estilo de la última película de Jennifer Lopez (The Mother), siguiendo un patrón bastante similar, aunque esta vez con una sensación más “hecha para la televisión” en su cinematografía y tratamiento del guion.

“¿Quién es Erin Carter?” es una serie que a veces tiende a enfatizar el lado sentimental de sus personajes principales, sus motivaciones, el aspecto de “ser madre” en lugar del papel de heroína de acción de Kate (no queremos revelar demasiado de su personaje). Busca mantener un delicado equilibrio entre un thriller clásico y un drama familiar, y en ese sentido, para los puristas que quieren más thriller y menos gestos dramáticos, puede quedarse corta.

Hay buenas actuaciones en la serie, destacando Evin Ahmad, quien ofrece una interpretación bien definida del papel y muestra hábilmente las diferentes facetas de su personaje. Un thriller divertissant qui nous emmène dans le voyage d’une mère prise dans un quasi-film d’action, très inspiré du dernier film de Jennifer Lopez (The Mother), suivant un schéma assez similaire, bien que cette fois-ci avec une atmosphère plus “fait pour la télévision” dans sa cinématographie et son traitement du scénario.

“Who is Erin Carter?” est une série qui tend parfois à mettre l’accent sur le côté sentimental de ses personnages principaux, leurs motivations, l’aspect “être une mère” plutôt que le rôle de héros d’action de Kate (nous ne voulons pas trop dévoiler son personnage). Elle cherche à maintenir un équilibre délicat entre un thriller classique et un drame familial, et à cet égard, pour les puristes qui veulent plus de thriller et moins de gestes dramatiques, elle peut manquer de quelque chose.

Dabei folgt er einem recht ähnlichen Muster, jedoch mit einem eher “für das Fernsehen gemachten” Gefühl in Bezug auf Kameraarbeit und Drehbuchbehandlung.

“Who is Erin Carter?” ist eine Serie, die zuweilen dazu neigt, die sentimentale Seite ihrer Hauptfiguren, ihre Motivationen und den Aspekt “Mutter zu sein” zu betonen, anstatt Kates Actionheldenrolle (wir möchten nicht zu viel über ihre Figur verraten). Sie strebt danach, eine delikate Balance zwischen einem klassischen Thriller und einem Familiendrama zu halten, und in dieser Hinsicht könnte sie für Puristen, die mehr Thriller und weniger dramatische Gesten wollen, etwas zu kurz kommen.

“Who Is Erin Carter?” è una serie che tende a volte a enfatizzare il lato sentimentale dei suoi personaggi principali, le loro motivazioni, l’aspetto di “essere madre” piuttosto che il ruolo di eroe d’azione di Kate (non vogliamo rivelare troppo del suo personaggio).
