Unleash the Power of Color in ChromaGun 2: Dye Hard
Susan Hill

Pixel Maniacs and PM Studios have officially announced their upcoming title, ChromaGun 2: Dye Hard. The game is a sequel to the original color-based puzzle shooter and is being developed to coincide with the 10th anniversary of the franchise. The title aims to expand upon the award-winning mechanics of its predecessor.

Gameplay and Mechanics

ChromaGun 2: Dye Hard is a first-person puzzle shooter about colors. Players utilize the “ChromaGun”, a device used to shoot primary colors onto surfaces and objects. This allows them to mix colors to manipulate the environment. The primary puzzle mechanic is “Magnetoid Chromatism”, a proprietary concept where droids are magnetically attracted to walls of the same color. Players must utilize this principle, alongside subtractive color-mixing, to navigate complex, achromatic rooms and corridors, activate doors, and neutralize colorful enemy drones.

Sequel Innovations and Narrative Structure

The sequel is poised to introduce smarter puzzles, advanced color physics, and new hazardous environmental elements, including deadly floor tiles. Players will face their toughest color-mixing challenges yet in a mind-bending 3D environment. The game is structured around a new, gripping comedic narrative that delves into the origins of the Chroma Technology and the mysterious corporation behind it. A significant new feature is the introduction of “Multiverse Puzzles”, which will require players to travel through time and space across different dimensions and parallel universes. Each will introduce new physics and increasingly complex mechanics.

Accessibility and Technical Achievement

Pixel Maniacs has developed a unique accessibility game mode. This feature functions as an overlay, adding symbols to colored objects. This is designed to help color-blind players enjoy the game. This technical solution earned ChromaGun 2: Dye Hard the Horizon Award for Technical Innovation at GG Bavaria 2025.

Launch and Availability

ChromaGun 2: Dye Hard is scheduled for a global launch on February 12, 2026. It will be released digitally for PC via Steam and the Epic Games Store. PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and the Nintendo Switch 2 versions will be available both digitally and in physical retail editions. Pre-orders for the retail versions are now open.
