October 20, 2023 New York, NY – Bea Miller is in a new chapter in her life and career, and her latest singles, including “gauche,” offer a glimpse into her evolving lyrical and sonic direction. Her 5th independent single released this year, “gauche” is a gritty, midtempo alternative track with poignant references to a real-life car crash she caused at the age of 18. The single is the latest released via her own label, aptly named gauche records (ADA Worldwide). The new single arrives ahead of her 8-city US gauche tour.

The emotion-packed single was produced by frequent collaborators Kyle Shearer (Allie X, Rina Sawayama, Melanie Martinez) and guitarist Mikey Lasusa. Bea helms the track as the lead songwriter alongside Cara Salimando (Dua Lipa, Sabrina Carpenter, Allie X) with additional contributions from producers Mikey Lasusa and Kyle Shearer. On the moody track, Bea navigates being distracted and day-dreaming while still being overly self-aware (and owning it). Lyrically, she explores simultaneous feelings of inadequacy and hope. The companion visual follows Bea crafting a bouquet of flowers whilst being visibly distraught, an ode to the song’s ethos.

When reflecting on the content of the song Bea shares, “’gauche’ is the most literal song I have ever written, which also makes it one of my favorites. When I was 18 I truly crashed into a parked car (I left my number on the windshield), while being distracted by a beautiful woman on the sidewalk. I stumble over my words, I embarrass myself endlessly, I overthink every conversation I’ve ever had, and I constantly make mistakes. I’ve embraced that I’m a mess yet I never stop trying not to be. Even the way we recorded the song was messy. [We had] a cheap microphone on the floor, with a click track and my friend Mikey playing guitar beside me. I think that’s one of the things that makes life feel exciting – finding a way to make the mess beautiful and unique.”

“gauche” is the fifth installment of Bea’s ‘twelve-part visual compendium’ entitled BEA MILLER’S CABINET, brought to life by creative partner Gina Manning / GIZELLA (Robert Pattinson, Teen Vogue, Entertainment Weekly, Bose, GQ). Having set the tone earlier this year with singles “lonely bitch”, “jealous of my friends”, and “this call is coming from inside the house”, Bea is building upon the sonic direction she has been crafting for some time. Bea recently lent her vocals to collaborators Sueco (“Yours”) and RL Grime (“Slow Dive”,) further immersing herself within the alternative scene.

After supporting acts like Coldplay and Fifth Harmony on global stages, Bea is gearing up to showcase her new alt-rock tracks and pop fan favorites on her US-headlining gauche tour. The tour is also supported by buzzing singer-songwriter Isabel LaRosa (RCA Records) as the opening act. The 8-city trek kicks off in Boston, MA (Nov. 29), with stops in New York (Dec. 1), and Chicago (Dec. 8), before wrapping in Los Angeles (Dec. 15).
