Marry My Dead Body is a 2022 comedy movie directed by Cheng Wei-Hao, written by Sharon Wu, and starring Greg Hsu and Austin Lin.

“Marry My Dead Body” is one of those easily watchable movies that are quickly forgotten soon after viewing it. It falls into the category of films that require little concentration, and somehow manage to qualify as a guilty pleasure thanks to its simple cinematic tactics, and the potpourri combination of comedy, action, and silliness of various sorts.

It relies on a sense of humor reminiscent of the past; easily digestible, easily grasped.

About the movie

If you’re in the mood for a movie that doesn’t aim to make you ruminate and ponder the meaning of what you have just watched, “Marry My Dead Body” is perfect. If you seek a shallow pastime, this is the ideal excuse to waste 2 hours of your life on or, from a more humane perspective, take a break from more serious matters, which are plenty. It is so classic in its theme that it neither surprises, and we suspect it doesn’t intend to surprise, nor does it contribute to deeper philosophical afterthought, However, with all that said it doesn’t disappoint entirely as it manages to bring just about enough entertainment with its touch of, how to put it? Modernized traditionalism.

It is charming in its characterizations, and has a well-structured script, making it just about entertaining enough to keep us watching without raising our expectations too high as far as any kind of aesthetic originality and filmic mastery goes.

Its supernatural aspect combined with the humor gives it an added value, lightening the story. Had it been a plain cop-thriller film, it would probably not have been watchable at all, but, as said, the supernatural element and the group of believers who “revive” the spirit give it an interesting twist.

The comedic lead couple, played by Greg Hsu and Austin Lin, have a great chemistry on screen. The humor is very slapstick, with falls and punches, but it is also clever and even sometimes surprising (note: the scene where the ghost takes on its most ghostly form or possesses the body of its husband).

All in all, it is a pleasant comedy that is relatively well-made, unfortunately though, it is not particularly exciting.

Our Opinion

It is funny, has good cinematography, and successfully blends the traditional with the modern, which is the film’s main strength. A movie for the viewers who simply want and need to be entertained, and do not want to start pondering the plots and subtexts in depth.

“Mi Boda con un Fantasma” es una de esas películas que se ven fácilmente y que se olvidan según van pasando los minutos, de ésas tan fáciles que no requieren concentración alguna y que, de alguna extraña manera, logran convertirse en un pecado culpable gracias a la acumulación de recursos simples y su combinación de comedia, acción y estupideces variadas.

Un sentido del humor muy “del de antes”.

Sobre la película

Si os apetece una película que no quiere quedarse en vuestra memoria, con “Mi Boda con un Fantasma” tenéis la excusa perfecta para desperdiciar 2 horas de vuestra vida o para, desde otro punto de vista, tomar aire para cosas más serias: es tan clásica en su temática que ni sorprende ni pretende sorprender, pero tampoco decepciona y también sabe aportar lo justo con su toque de tradicionalismo modernizado.

Es encantadora en sus personajes, tiene un guion bien estructurado y es lo suficientemente entretenida como para que la sigamos viendo sin esperar ningún tipo de originalidad estética. Tiene un gran acierto: su lado sobrenatural, que le da toda la gracia a la historia. De haber sido sólo una película de policías, probablemente no habría tenido demasiada gracia, pero el lado sobrenatural y y el grupo de creyentes que “reviven” el espíritu le da su toque de interés.

Bien compenetrada la pareja cómica protagonista, con Greg Hsu y Austin Lin logrando un buen tándem. Un humor muy físico, con caídas, trompazos, pero también un humor elaborado y hasta sorprendente a veces (como cuando el fantasma toma su forma más fantasmal o cuando toma posesión del cuerpo de su marido).

Una comedia agradable, de las buenas y de las bien hechas, de las que gustan, sin entusiasmar.

Es graciosa, tiene una buena fotografía y sabe no decepcionar mezclando con acierto lo tradicional con lo moderno, la gran apuesta de esta película

À propos du film

Si vous avez envie d’un film qui ne veut pas rester dans votre mémoire, “Marry My Dead Body” est la parfaite excuse pour gaspiller 2 heures de votre vie ou, d’un autre point de vue, prendre une pause avant des choses plus sérieuses. Il est si classique dans son thème qu’il ne surprend ni ne prétend surprendre, mais il ne déçoit pas non plus et apporte juste ce qu’il faut avec sa touche de traditionalisme modernisé.

Il est charmant dans ses personnages, a un scénario bien structuré et est suffisamment divertissant pour que nous continuions à le regarder sans attendre d’originalité esthétique. Il a un grand succès : son aspect surnaturel, qui donne tout le charme à l’histoire. S’il avait été seulement un film policier, il n’aurait probablement pas été très amusant, mais l’aspect surnaturel et le groupe de croyants qui “ressuscitent” l’esprit lui donnent un intérêt supplémentaire.

La paire comique principale est bien assortie, avec Greg Hsu et Austin Lin formant un bon duo. L’humour est très physique, avec des chutes, des coups, mais aussi un humour élaboré et parfois surprenant (comme lorsque le fantôme prend sa forme la plus spectrale ou lorsqu’il prend possession du corps de son mari).

Une comédie agréable, bien faite, de celles qu’on apprécie sans être enthousiasmé.

Notre avis

C’est drôle, a une bonne photographie et sait ne pas décevoir en mélangeant habilement le traditionnel et le moderne, le grand pari de ce film.

Wenn Sie sich für einen Film interessieren, der nicht in Erinnerung bleiben will, dann ist “Marry My Dead Body” die perfekte Gelegenheit, zwei Stunden Ihres Lebens zu verbringen oder das Leben eines älteren Menschen aus einer anderen Perspektive zu betrachten. Der Film ist so klassisch in seiner Thematik, dass er weder übersehen noch übersehen werden will, aber er erwähnt es nicht einmal und bringt mit seiner modernistischen Tradition den Reichtum mit, mit dem er dies tut.

Er ist charmant in seinen Charakteren, hat ein gut strukturiertes Drehbuch und ist unterhaltsam genug, um ihn ohne äsgliche ästhetische Originalität weiter anzuschauen. Ein großer Erfolg ist der übergreifende Aspekt der Geschichte seiner Vergangenheit. Das komödiantische Hauptduo, Greg Hsu und Austin Lin, harmoniert gut miteinander. Se avete voglia di un film che non vuole rimanere nella vostra memoria, con “Marry My Dead Body” avete la scusa perfetta per sprecare due ore della vostra vita o, da un altro punto di vista, prendere fiato per cose più serie: è così classica nel suo tema che non sorprende né cerca di sorprendere, ma non delude neanche e sa anche apportare il giusto con il suo tocco di tradizionalismo modernizzato.

È incantevole nei suoi personaggi, ha una sceneggiatura ben strutturata ed è abbastanza divertente da continuare a guardare senza aspettarsi alcuna originalità estetica. Ha un grande successo: il suo lato sovrannaturale, che dà tutta la grazia alla storia. Se fosse stata solo un film poliziesco, probabilmente non avrebbe avuto molta grazia, ma il lato sovrannaturale e il gruppo di credenti che “riportano in vita” lo spirito gli danno quel tocco di interesse.

La coppia comica protagonista è ben affiatata, con Greg Hsu e Austin Lin che formano un buon tandem. Un umorismo molto fisico, con cadute, colpi, ma anche un umorismo elaborato e talvolta sorprendente (come quando il fantasma assume la sua forma più spettrale o quando prende possesso del corpo del marito).

Una commedia piacevole, delle buone e ben fatte, di quelle che piacciono senza entusiasmare.

La nostra opinione

È divertente, ha una buona fotografia e sa non deludere mescolando con successo il tradizionale con il moderno, la grande scommessa di questo film.

Dacă aveți chef de un film care nu își propune să vă rămână în memorie, “Căsătorește-te cu o fantomă” este scuza perfectă pentru a pierde 2 ore din viață sau, dintr-o altă perspectivă, pentru a lua o pauză de la chestiuni mai serioase. Este atât de clasic în tematica sa încât nici nu surprinde și nici nu încearcă să surprindă, dar nici nu dezamăgește și reușește să aducă ceea ce trebuie cu atingerea sa de tradiționalism modernizat.

Este fermecător prin personajele sale, are un scenariu bine structurat și este suficient de amuzant pentru ca noi să continuăm să ne uităm la el fără să ne așteptăm la vreun fel de originalitate estetică. Are o mare reușită: aspectul supranatural, care adaugă mult umor poveștii. Dacă ar fi fost doar un film polițist, probabil că nu ar fi fost foarte amuzant, dar elementul supranatural și grupul de credincioși care “reînvie” spiritul îi dau o turnură interesantă.

Duo-ul comic format din Greg Hsu și Austin Lin, care interpretează personajele principale, are o chimie excelentă. Umorul este foarte fizic, cu căzături și momente slapstick, dar este, de asemenea, inteligent și ocazional surprinzător (ca atunci când fantoma ia forma sa cea mai fantomatică sau când posedă corpul soțului său).

Este o comedie plăcută, bine făcută și plăcută, dar nu deosebit de incitantă.

記憶に残ることを目的としない映画を観たい気分なら、『僕と幽霊が家族になった件』は人生の2時間を無駄にする、あるいは別の見方をすれば、もっと深刻な問題のために休憩するための完璧な口実となる。あまりに古典的なテーマなので、驚かせることも驚かせるつもりもないが、期待を裏切ることもなく、現代風にアレンジされた伝統主義のタッチで十分なものを提供することに成功している。
