Akwire Media Group has released the first look at Jack in the Box, the holiday-themed romantic comedy from writer-director Keishawn Blackstone, which wrapped filming last month in Los Angeles. The film is produced by Akwire alongside Blackstone, Aswan Harris (Draft Day), Amie Yaniak (Loving Your Life) and executive producer James Pratt (Eyes of Salt).
The November shoot brought together an ensemble led by Tangie Ambrose (In Plain Sight, A House Divided), Rhonda Bankston (Fire), Aswan Harris, and Amie Yaniak. They are joined by Josh Lyles (Stuck in Society), Kristi Lawrence (Forgiven), Jodie Cook, Influencer Rico Rico, and Dontavion Reynolds and Kristie Lawrence.
Blackstone, who continues expanding his footprint in the indie space, most recently directed The Retreat of the Heart, the upcoming romantic drama featuring Kareem J. Grimes. The filmmaker describes Jack in the Box as a project with “a lot of heart and plenty of light-hearted moments,” adding that the story centers on “the unexpected connections that bring people together, especially when love seems most complicated.”

Distribution remains under wraps, but Jack in the Box marks Akwire Media Group’s latest move into seasonal, character-driven storytelling.
Jack in the Box is currently in post-production in Los Angeles with a 2026 release date.
